It’s back to school time for our students! Let’s show some ALOHA by driving carefully and staying alert on the roads. Watch out for kids walking, biking, or getting on and off buses and cars to keep everyone safe.

School bus safety tips

• Remind kids to wait away from the road and always cross in front of the bus, not behind.

• Stay with younger children at the bus stop and make sure you and your child are visible.

• Teach kids to stand at least three big steps from the curb and use the handrail when getting on or off the bus.

• Tell kids to sit quietly and follow the bus driver's rules to keep everyone safe.

• Make sure children wait until the bus stops completely before getting off.

• If crossing the street, have kids take five big steps from the bus front, make eye contact with the driver, and cross only when the driver says it’s safe, always walking in front of the bus.
